Next Cohort: June 2021 | Application Deadline: TBD
Founded in 2015, Atlanta GLOW’s Summer Leadership Program is a camp experience for young women and girls like no other. It takes our organization’s and programs’ leadership development focus further by teaching the key social emotional skills that lie at the heart of women’s wellness, leadership, advocacy and influence. Our program is for young women and girls from across the metro Atlanta area who want to learn more about themselves while building their competency around concepts such as civic responsibility, diversity and social justice.
Program instruction includes interactive lessons with the entire class as well as smaller mentor-led group activities while promoting sisterhood, community and an interest in social impact. Participants have the ability to collaborate with classmates within breakout sessions and participate in classroom-based activities and projects. By the end of the program, participants are charged with creating a project, whether through art, literature or technology, teaching their peers about a cause that matters to them.

EARN AND LEARN
Atlanta GLOW incorporates incentive funds to distribute stipends via gift cards as well as additional prizes to reward participants for goal achievement and to encourage program completion. With our Earn and Learn incentive program, youth earn a stipend for each curriculum component they successfully complete (e.g., training and mentoring sessions), allowing youth to build assets to support their transition to adulthood. Youth can also earn bonus dollars by completing volunteer projects or community service activities. All Earn and Learn stipends are distributed to participants on upon successful program completion.
Our attendance policy allows for up to 1 excused absence for our Mentoring and Leadership Programs, and up to 2 excused absences for our Life Skills Training Program. We understand that emergencies happen and students may need to be excused from class. We ask that students communicate any anticipated absence with our program staff and make arrangements to make up any missed work. Girls who miss the maximum number of program sessions allowable may be removed from the program and/or forfeit part or all of the allotted program stipend.
