Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Atlanta GLOW. Sign up now to begin the process of becoming an approved volunteer in time for our next programming session. Once we receive your online application, we will invite you to complete a background check, reference check, and training course in advance of the next program start date.

Volunteer commitments range from a few hours to 6-12 months.

Volunteers must pass a National Criminal Background Check.

Volunteer Opportunities for Individuals
Individual volunteers provide ongoing support to help facilitate programs and activities that enrich the lives of Atlanta GLOW youth and young adults. Current volunteer role vacancies and their time commitments are provided below.
Mentors (1-5 hours/month - Minimum 6 Month Commitment)
Coach and encourage Atlanta GLOW participants as they create Individual Achievement Plans while modeling positive life and leadership skills and providing connections and resources to promote goal achievement. We offer a 6-month one-to-one mentorship program with new cohorts launching at the beginning of each quarter:

Those who miss the application deadline will be considered for the next upcoming cohort. Upon being matched, monthly mentoring sessions are scheduled individually by each mentoring pair.
Tutors (1-5 hours/week)
Lead virtual one-on-one and small group lessons that cater to the unique needs and goals of participating youth to assist and encourage youth in meeting high school or GED testing and/or graduation requirements, reach their academic goals and reduce the risk of truancy and/or dropout. Subject preferences include Math (Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Trigonometry, Economics), Science (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geography), History, English Language Arts (Writing), SAT/ACT Prep, and Foreign Languages (Spanish, French, German).

To volunteer in our programs, individuals must:

Be aged 21 or older

Identify as a woman (for mentoring only)

Have earned at least a HS Diploma or GED

Reside in the Atlanta Metropolitan Statistical Area (for mentoring only)

Have a clean criminal history

Not be an abuser of any Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Services (ATODS) or illegal substances

Possess integrity, strong morals and values
-
Have mid- to executive-level professional, entrepreneurial or business experience

Be willing to consistently invest their time, treasure and/or talent
- Communicate regularly with program staff and participants

Have a desire to work with youth/young adults

Possess strong, active listening skills
-
Have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds

Be transparent and willing to share knowledge and relatable, personal experiences

Abide by all program policies and procedures
ONBOARDING PROCESS
To volunteer in any of our programs, individuals must complete the following steps within 30 days of an upcoming program start date:

Fill out our Volunteer Application. This simple application help us get to know your goals, interests, and background.

Complete an Online Orientation. The presentation gives an overview of our organization and highlights key information that will help you be successful in your new volunteer role.

Complete a Background Check. There is a $25 nonrefundable administrative fee to cover the cost of the check.

Undergo a Reference Check. We will contact the character references provided on your application.
